who is amy freiermuth?
Developing a love of photography during grade school, Amy spent many hours in the darkroom during high school. When it came time to choose a college career, it was obvious - Photojournalism, at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
While studying for her BFA, Amy realized that as much as she loved photography, she did not want to "shoot " on a full-time basis. That's when she discovered graphic design. During her senior year of undergraduate work, Amy was the class designer/web developer. Upon graduation, Amy decided to continue her studies in design, and was chosen as one of 16 summer fellows at the prestigious Poynter Institute for Media Studies, where she focused on graphic design.
In the spring of 2002, Amy completed her Master's in Publishing/Printing Technology at RIT. While in grad school, Amy began her career in the newspaper business, by first working in the newsroom of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle as a presentation editor/graphic artist. Upon graduation, she landed a short internship with the Buffalo News as the "First Sunday" Art Director; this allowed her to move back to her hometown. After the internship, she spent 4 years at Greater Niagara Newspapers as the Production Director, reporting directly to the publisher. Her duties at Niagara included all of production - graphics, pre-press, press and mailroom - for four daily newspapers, numerous weeklies, and special sections. Amy was also responsible for a staff of over 65 employees.
Although Amy loved her job at the paper, she knew that the newspaper industry was not going to allow her creativity to shine. She left the newspaper industry and focused on BeauDesigns full-time in 2004. Amy owns and operates BeauDesigns, and has been offering clients a wide variety of professional graphic design and print solutions for over 5 years.
In June of 2008, Amy decided to expand her reach by updating the BeauDesigns' website. As a result, BeauDesigns now also offers full web design and development services to our clients. Amy continues to be on the cutting edge of professional graphic design and print technology, always focusing on client relationships, quick turn-around, and her family.
